The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. The Army Foundation College at Harrogate trains all Junior Soldiers under the age of 18 and prepares them for their subsequent Phase 2 Training - an exciting and challenging course programme, which includes military skills, education, adventure training and life skills.

The health and safety of all individuals working and training on site is extremely important, and we must therefore ensure that they can train, work, and relax in a safe environment. The Advisor would act as the Health & Safety Lead across the College and support the Commanding Officer to ensure all personnel are safe and working within all Health & Safety policies.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety Policy and legislation in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Defence Policies on Management of Health and Safety.
The Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor will assist the senior management in ensuring the organisation is a safe environment for all in which to work and reside. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

HSEP qualified and previous experience of working in a HSEP role.
Qualifications:
Good briefing skills both verbally and presentation delivery as required.
Confidence and ability to deliver training to both military and civilian personnel.
IT literate: use of SharePoint, Word and Excel.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
