This person will support on a key externally focussed business project for SJP and will require a minimum of 12 months’ previous SQL experience to succeed in the role. They will be heavily involved in the development of code to support business project reporting requirements, the migration of SQL code from MS SQL Server to Snowflake, and the redesign of existing code to support data structure changes. They will also investigate erroneous results and interpret the impact back clearly to the business. This role requires a capable and self-motivated individual who is good at problem solving and confident about their ability to extract data from technical data sets.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the development of new SQL code in Snowflake to support business reporting requirements related principally to financial data.
  • Migration of code from Microsoft SQL Server to Snowflake, including adopting new data structure.
  • Produce high quality documentation and test evidence to support change management governance requirements.
  • Assist with the investigation of unexpected financial results through in-depth data analysis.
  • Support the development of financial based processes/insights through data analysis and query development.
  • Ensure proper operation of controls to safeguard the accuracy of financial outputs produced by the financial data team and compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and professional standards.
  • Other data related activities as required.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Capable in programming languages of SQL in particular. Other programming languages (e.g., Python, R etc.) may be beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and data modelling techniques.
  • Experience in documentation of code changes.
  • Good computer skills including Excel and Power BI. Other relevant computing systems advantageous.
  • Knowledge of finance concepts beneficial.
  • Understanding of the SJP product range and how they operate.
  • Understanding of the data systems used within the SJP business.
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders with diverse range of expectations.
  • Strong data analysis skills, particularly in relation to very large datasets.
  • Approaches work positively with a can-do attitude and builds trust through efficient and reliable contact with others.
