We're looking for a Senior Analyst within Long Duration Electricity Storage (LDES) to join our newly established team and contribute to a high-profile programme that will shape the future of energy storage, providing vital low-carbon flexibility and diversification for the energy sector. 
 
Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers, and drive economic growth. 

This is an exciting time to join us, as we deliver the cap and floor regulatory regime for LDES. This role will allow you to develop expertise in a cutting-edge area of energy regulation and work collaboratively with experienced professionals to make a tangible difference in decarbonisation and consumer outcomes.

As part of a collaborative team, you'll have the chance to engage with LDES project developers, investors and stakeholders, delivering regulatory assessments and decisions for approved projects. You'll lead on improving policy implementation processes, advocating for innovative solutions and creating a strong evidence base to inform our regulatory determinations. 

We're looking for someone with experience in cost assessment, cost-benefit analysis, or financial modelling; and governance of major infrastructure or similarly complex projects. Exceptional analytical skills, strong written and oral communication abilities, with experience in the operation or regulation of infrastructure / utility companies (or similar infrastructure developers or large complex corporations). Essential Criteria 

• Experience in cost assessment, cost-benefit analysis, or financial modelling; and governance of major infrastructure or similarly complex projects. (LEAD) 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at navigating complex challenges with exceptional accuracy and thoroughness in task completion and work review (Lead) 

• Experience working within an engineering / technical / cost advising or consultancy environment. 

• Experience in the operation or regulation of infrastructure / utility companies (or similar infrastructure developers or large complex corporations). 

• Experience advising on strategic or operational performance of large infrastructure assets. 

• Example of delivering large projects/work outcomes to a deadline at a high standard.
