Our Company's Commitment and Culture

Our academies are 100% inclusive for all people with disabilities and we have worked hard to develop each course, the assignments, exams and coursework to meet the needs of all our disabled students. This has meant working closely with our partners to meet individual disabled people’s needs.

Our virtual learning platform enables students to access education without the challenges of navigating to academic institutions. Through online interaction with peers, students avoid isolation, find purpose, and work towards their goals, fostering a sense of community and facilitating a pathway to employment, raising self-belief and confidence.

In essence, the Academy has demonstrated its ability to run effective at-home training and education programs for individuals with disabilities. As a recent student commented:

“I'm delighted to have been selected for this programme of study with the NCTJ & the ADJ. It's something I've been wanting to do for several years but the barriers of affordability and access were in my way. You have removed both barriers and I'm just thrilled to be able to do this course”

Launched in 2017, Disability Today CIC started out as an online news platform pushing related news to the disabled community, before becoming a not-for-profit Social Enterprise. We took the bold step of rebranding to Ability Today in 2019 when it felt like the right time to send the message ‘Let’s focus on what we can do’! We have evolved during the last few years and really are making a difference, helping to change people's lives.

Accessibility Features

We are commited to supporting our employees with disabilities or long term conditions by taking steps to remove barriers that disabled employees may face at work. Some examples of support we can offer include:

  • Offering appropriate adjustments during recruitment and selection processes - such as allowing extra time for reading or written assessment
  • Ensuring our office spaces are accessible to all employees with a physical disability or impairment
  • Flexibility in working practices – such as the provision of additional breaks, adjusted working hours, remote/hybrid working
  • Acquiring new, or adapting existing, equipment or technology – such as screen readers or ergonomic workstations
  • Time off to attend medical assessments, treatment, or rehabilitation
