Job Description

If the link to apply for no longer works this may be because the job opportunity has closed early. We occasionally close vacancies early due to high volumes of applications. We would therefore recommend you complete your application prior to the closing date which is for guidance only.

Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.

We are looking for an experienced Capability Engineer with People & Information Knowledge Management experience. You’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of the Information Knowledge Management (IKM) Strategy across Novel Nuclear.

This is an exciting time to join the team with key programmes and developments in the pipeline and plenty of opportunity to contribute to a broad technology development portfolio.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

Your Role:

In this role you’ll ensure that the Novel Nuclear Engineering Team are equipped to carry out information and knowledge management requirements placed on them and are able to develop their knowledge and capability through training opportunities. With this exciting opportunity you will be also carrying out following key tasks:

  • Responsible for guiding the wider Novel Nuclear Engineering Team to meet the requirements placed on them as part of the Micro-Reactor Information Knowledge Management Plan (IKMP).
  • Responsible for the development, delivery and maintenance of Knowledge Management Action Plans (KMAPs) and an appropriate training matrix across Novel Nuclear through interfacing with the Engineering Group Leads and their teams to ensure succession and capability planning.
  • Responsible for the development, delivery and auditing of the IKM policies and practices for Novel Nuclear.
  • Responsible for facilitating IKM workshops across Novel Nuclear and partner organisations including, but not limited to, Learning from Experience Reviews, Knowledge Capture projects and assisting teams with Change Management associated with working on new programmes of work.
  • Responsible for the outward facing IKM requirements associated with working with partner organisations.

Who we are looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do.  These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of delivering IKM programmes or projects across an organisation.
  • A good working knowledge of the IKM discipline, policies and processes.
  • Good facilitation skills and change management experience
  • A relevant postgraduate or undergraduate degree in IKM or equivalent

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
